Promoting Athlete Wellness

Providing Care and Support for Youth Athletes and Sports Teams

CHORTHO Cares Inc goal is to promote health and wellness through increased safety and access to orthopedic care at athletic events. CHORTHO Cares Inc provides care, equipment, and funding for youth athletes and sports teams, focusing on injury prevention, treatment, and physical rehabilitation. The program is managed by athletic trainers, orthopedic residents, and physicians affiliated with Children’s Orthopaedics and Scoliosis Surgery Associates, LLP. (COSSA) Activities are conducted at sports facilities, schools, and athletic events in the local Tampa Bay area.
Empowering Through Education

Support Education and Advocacy for Coaches, Trainers, and Healthcare Providers

CHORTHO Cares Inc supports educational lectures, workshops, and seminars for coaches, trainers, healthcare providers, and parents of student athletes. Events are led by orthopedic surgeons, orthopedic residents, sports medicine specialists, registered orthopaedic techs, nurses, athletic trainers, and other educators. Lectures and seminars are held at local hospitals, medical training facilities, sports facilities, and schools.
Keeping Athletes Safe on the Field

Orthopedic Support at High School Football Games

Local high schools within a one-hour radius will be able to apply for an orthopedic surgeon to volunteer at their home football games. Schools must submit a request form for the season, and priority will be given based on physician availability, school location, and need.

Enhancing Trainer Support for Schools

Grants for Athletic Trainer Support

We will offer grants to local high schools to subsidize the cost of a full-time orthopedic technician or athletic trainer, providing up to 7 additional hours of trainer time per week. Schools eligible for this funding must submit weekly or monthly timesheets documenting trainer hours beyond the baseline 25 hours they can afford. Schools participating in our football game support program (hosting volunteer orthopedic physicians) will receive priority in grant allocation.
Supporting School Athletics Year-Round

Seasonal School Sports Scholarships

Secondary schools are invited to apply for scholarships to bolster their seasonal sports programs. Funding will prioritize initiatives that promote health and wellness, serve unmet community health needs, encourage active lifestyles, and contribute to community development in alignment with our mission.
Advancing Mission-Driven Initiatives

Supporting Other Charitable, Educational, and Scientific Projects

CHORTHO Cares Inc supports other charitable projects aligned with its mission. This includes hosting fundraising events, grantmaking, and advocacy efforts.
* CHORTHO Cares Inc has filed an application with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to be recognized as a tax-exempt public charity under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. CHORTHO Cares Inc is currently awaiting a determination from the IRS regarding its exempt status.
